Our endurance bike ride today took us from my work to the six mile slough, which is about a 8 mile ride one way. This was taken early in the morning. The sun shinning through the leaves was beautiful! In raining season, about a month away, the floor of the hammock should be underwater.

A little farther back in the slough, we found the wood duck pond. Funny thing we didn't find any wood ducks, but plenty of white ibis!

I don't know what kind of plant this is except that it is an air plant. It attached itself to a tree trunk. This is the only one we saw that was flowering.

This bird is called an Anhinga, it has no oil on it's feathers so after a dip in the pond it has to spread it's wings and air dry. This was taken with the zoom lens it was on top of a tree.

We spent the day out in the Gulf of Mexico. Our captain was a friend from my work. (Also an Ohioian from Marysville.) Anywho I do a lot of favors for him so in return he was our tour guide. We started off to the island of Caya Costa and then to the inlet waters. It was a great day!

The sky was blue and so was the sea. BEAUTIFUL!

The lighthouse at the end of Gasparilla Island in Boco Grande. The pass we went thru here is the best fishing for Tarpon in the world. Anglers come from all over to fish here. On May 18th they have a tournment here and Chris said you could walk from boat to boat it is so filled! I know there was a lot of boats in the pass today!

Our captain and his vessel Didn't quite get close enough.

Caya Costa Island

Leaving Caya Costa Island heading to the inlet bays these guys decided to visit. Tapping on the side of the boat brought them in closer.
